Criminal Justice & Law Enforcement
Because substance use sits at the nexus of public health and criminal justice, successful drug control policy must balance substance use treatment, prevention, and law enforcement. This overlap raises the key question of drug control: what is the right balance between treatment and sanctions – between demand reduction and supply reduction? Carnevale Associates works at every level of government to inform this issue – through research, evaluation, performance measurement, and technical assistance.
As a partner in the Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Performance Measurement Tool Support Contract team, Carnevale Associates provides performance measurement & management, strategic planning, grantee reporting, and data analysis to the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, and the Office of the Chief Financial Officer. Our team develops program specific performance measures & logic models, conducts data analysis, and reports on topics ranging from crime prevention and drug treatment to law enforcement. We also conduct extensive criminal justice research & evaluation, including national and local evaluations of adult and juvenile drug courts, estimating the economic cost of illicit drug use for the National Drug Intelligence Center, and evaluating the effectiveness of training and technical assistance conducted by the National Association of Drug Court Professionals.
